Bale injury picked up on Tottenham duty

The injury that has ruled Gareth Bale out of Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier between Wales and England was picked up a week ago whilst in action for Tottenham.
Bale has left the Wales squad in order to return to Spurs, where he will undergo treatment on a hamstring injury. At this stage, it is unknown whether the problem will rule him out of the forthcoming Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid.
Wales released an official statement on Thursday, revealing Bale developed the injury either when training for, or playing in, the 0-0 draw against West Ham. The left-sided flyer completed the full 90 minutes of that match, but he has not been 100 per cent fit since Saturday's encounter.
''Due to a hamstring problem, Gareth Bale has had to withdraw from the Wales squad to face England on Saturday," confirmed a statement from the Welsh FA.
"He felt tight last week during training with his club. After playing 90 minutes on Saturday he felt some muscle tightness. Initially, this was expected to be muscle soreness after playing his first game. On joining up with the Welsh squad he was kept off his feet in training for two days to recover.
''As he still felt tight in the warm-up on Tuesday, Gareth was pulled out of the session. He did not train at all on Wednesday and was sent for a scan. The scan revealed that Gareth Bale picked up his injury last week.''
